FREE or
Low Cost Spaying and Neutering
The St. Martin Humane Society offers:
- free
spaying/neutering for St. Martin Parish households whose annual
income is $16,000 or less.
- 30
% discount certificates from the Acadiana Area Vet Association if
your annual income is $30,000 or less (regardless of the Parish,
no membership required)
- $30.00
discounts on your pets spay/neutering (for every pet) with a
minimum annual membership of $10 for an individual and $15 family
(regardless of the Parish), valid with St. Martin Parish
veterinarians or any other veterinarians who accepts our
certificate (some in New Iberia and Lafayette)

How
can I adopt a dog or cat?
To
adopt a dog, please visit our Petfinder
list
and
e-mail us a pre-adoption questionnaire. To adopt a cat, please
leave a message at (337) 845-4522. You may also adopt at one of
our community adoption functions. Please call to find when these
functions are scheduled. A fenced-in yard is a requirement to
adopt a dog.
- What
are the donations for adopting pets?
The
donation for cats and kittens is minimal. Donations for puppies
and dogs is usually $95.00.
- What
is the health status of a pet adopted out by the St. Martin Humane
Society?
The
gentle animals we adopt out have been examined by a veterinarian
and have the vaccinations appropriate for the age of the animal.
They are also on heartworm preventative. Animals old enough have
been spayed or neutered. Those animals too young to be spayed and
neutered leave the St. Martin Humane Society with a $30.00
certificate to have this procedure performed by the
LA veterinarian of your choice. Pets may be returned to the
St. Martin Humane Society, however all donations are final and
there are no refunds.
- How
can I be sure that the animal I adopt is gentle?
While
in the care of the St. Martin Humane Society the animals are
handled frequently and gently. To the best our of judgment, the
animals available are not aggressive.
- How
is the St. Martin Humane Society funded?
The
St. Martin Humane Society receives NO government funding.
Donations received upon adoption rarely cover the feeding and
medical care provided to the animals. We raise money to provide
our services from a number of sources:
- Generous donations from the community;
- Money from the memberships
- Volunteers who participate in fund raising events;
- Sales of pet food, pet supplies, books and other items from this
Internet site. It is vitally important that when purchasing items
on the Internet from one of our partners that the partner's site
is accessed from our web site! Please eMail us for

- Monthly
meetings
Come to a meeting! Everybody is welcome, we meet every 2d
Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Breaux Bridge
library.
- How
can I join the St. Martin Humane Society?
The different levels of yearly membership are:
- Individual:

$15
- Any
other higher amount would be greatly appreciated
With
your membership:
- You
will receive our newsletter.
- You
are entitled to a $30.00 discount on the spaying or neutering
of any of your pets (dogs and cats) from the St. Martin Parish
veterinarians,

are tax deductible as we are a non-profit organization. Donations
of any amount are greatly appreciated.
