Sad Update: Drake died in May 2005 at the vet's office where he was brought in because he was obviously not feeling well. His heart was apparently damaged from the heartworms, and he died of heart failure at the vet's office. The damage was done to his valves by the heartworms that existed prior to treatment.
After he was taken from the Animal Control Facility, Drake was placed in a foster home where he had is own private yard and where he received a lot of love and attention. But poor sweet Drake did not get a chance to have a home of his own!
Update: Drake is finished with his heartworm treatment and will be neutered shortly. He will then be looking for a new home!
Drake is a beautiful and very sweet Lab/German Shepherd mix whose time ran out at the pound. The facility was getting very crowded and since nobody had asked, even once, about him, he was going to be euthanized. He was taken out of the pound at the last minute and boarded at a vet's office (thanks to Len and Debbie Springer for paying that portion of his care) until we could find a foster home for him. While there, he was given his shots and tested for heartworm: he was heartworm positive and needs to be treated! He is now in a foster home and we are waiting to get enough money to pay for his treatment.
